WORDSMITH TO LEAD US SEMINARS
LEEDS, UK, February 19; INTERNATIONAL internet "wordsmith" Adam Christie is to lead two seminars in the United States in May.
Mr Christie - whose guide to writing for the internet "SiteWrite" is published in March 2001 - will be presenting the specialist events in Cincinnati, Oh, on Thursday May 17 and in Chicago, Il, on Wednesday May 23.
"The demographics of internet use are changing," Mr Christie said, "and unless they widen their horizons and develop their skills, US corporations and organizations will be left behind and suffer commercially."
Mr Christie brings an international perspective to internet communication, highlighting the weaknesses of insularity and teaching seminar participants how to overcome the inherent shortcomings of many US-based resources in the global marketplace.
His day-long seminars are intense, working events, with restricted numbers.
"Presentations to theaters of several hundred people may be motivational," Mr Christie says, "but they are far from efficient means of passing on information.
"I believe in making sure that every individual attending our events has an opportunity to learn, to ask the questions they want to ask and to take away education that is effective and useful.
"Our events provide opportunities for those with experience of presenting text on websites to review their approaches and work while giving newcomers an opportunity to find out how to avoid many common mistakes," Mr Christie said.
"As regular web users, we were dismayed to discover and repeatedly frustrated by sites that were not only unusable, they could not be understood; we had a rough idea of what people wanted to say, but that was all.
"B2B sites can be horrendous. Huge illustrations of special offers can stop potential customers getting the information they want and need.
"We set out to help web designers and users present sites which are clear, simple and user-friendly," Mr Christie said.
"We also believe that our rates are highly competitive and cost-effective," he said.
The Modus-op.com "Introduction to Writing for the Internet" seminar is scheduled for Thursday May 17 in Cincinnati, Oh, and Wednesday, May 23, 2001 for Chicago. Il.
The standard rate, including full documentation, lunch and beverages, is $495.00 per person for reservations made online at www.modus-op.com. Significant "early bird discounts" are available.
Modus-op.com provides writing and editing services for organizations with websites.
